He was born into an German and English Scottish family. His parents were missionaries, and during his initial years he traveled a lot together. James Colson Baker, his father, suffered depression and unemployment. The mother of his son Sonia Alane had left him at the age of nine. Baker and his father relocated to Denver and lived at the house of his aunt's father. Baker's lack of resources was a reason for the bullying of children in the area. The first time Baker heard of rap was when he entered sixth grade. Colson Baker, also known as Machine Gun Kelly, was born in Texas on the 22nd of April 1990. His songs are known for their ability to blend modern hip-hop and rock with alternative rock. Baker released four mixtapes prior to joining Bad Boy Records between 2007-2010. Then in the latter half of 2011, this Cleveland artist became an international star when he changed from self-releasing his mixtapes, to working for reputed label labels. The fame of this Cleveland rapper soared after the release of his first mixtape at the end of 2011.
